ST vs AMEX : Suntan Cup'04

The 20th day of March, Siri Fort Sports Complex, it was a breezy morning with little bit of moisture on ground and lot of grass and hardness on wicket , looking like a beauty of a wicket for batting and some help for seamers as well. The ground was full of people much before the match was scheduled to start, not because they were eager to watch our match, but they were there for doing their regular exercises.So our players had two fights on their hands ; one to play the match and other to ignore the beautiful girls(crowd) and concentrate on this beautiful game CRICKET.
Our captain lost the toss and the other team decided to bat first on that lively pitch. Our bowlers started well keeping a nice line and length, but the batsmen were playing cautiously. They took the score to 35 runs without losing any wicket, but then a beauty of a delivery from Rajesh Narwal got the better of the batsman and he was stumped by ever alert keeper Bharat.Then Rajesh got another wicket, thanks to a good stumping by the keeper.But runs were flowing from one of the batsmen who completed his fifty in no time at all , hitting Prashant for two sixes in two balls and then belted Sudip out of the attack by hitting couple of fours. Then the Hero of first match Vivek Hans took charge of the ball and with his disguise bowling took two quick wickets. Prashant and Sudip in their comeback spells bowled beautifully and took two wickets apiece to stop the outburst of AMEX batsmen. AMEX could manage only 130 runs in their alloted quota of 25 overs. It was a good comeback by our bowlers and all of them had good bowlingfigures in the end to show their efforts on the field.Once again the feature of innings was a great spirit shown by all the fielders and keeping was also good on a day when it was most needed.
ST Micro started off brilliantly by smashing 11 runs off the very first over.Bipin was hitting the ball so beautifully that AMEX captain was forced to change the opener bowlers within 3 overs, but to no avail.Runs were literally flowing from Bipin's bat and he was hitting boundaries at his will.ST completed their fifty in the 5th over with Bipin making 42 of them. He soon completed his fifty with a shot over covers. At the other end,Das was showing his class and maturity.He was making sure that Bipin is taking the strike on most of the occasions by picking up singles whenever he got the chance to face the music.They completed their 100 runs partnership in the 10th over with a boundary through the covers.
It was a great batsmanship shown by both of our openers as they made the required runs before the end of 16th over.Bipin was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 57 ball 87 hitting 12 fours and 2 towering six overs covers.Das also contributed well with the bat making 24 off 34 balls with 2 fours.It was an innings in which both openers showed lot of maturity and didn't loose their composure and made sure they are finishing the match in style with a 10 wicket victory.
Once again, this match showed that we are coming up as a team and we are in a position to lift our games and do a justice to our potentials and prove that we are a good team.
