Decline of ST Cricket

Once again we lost to a good team by a huge margin and the fact which is hard to digest is that we are unable to challenge any team in corporate world which are potentially better than us. We so easily gave up by just hearing the names of the teams which we are going to encounter at a later stage in the tournament. Cricket is a mind game and we are losing in our minds. The main problem with ST cricket is the un-togetherness of the teams: STCT and STCL. There was no point splitting the teams into two, when none of the teams is good enough to compete at corporate level.

STCT have all the big names that had represented ST in corporate cricket for years; Das, Sudip, Vij, Narwal, Jeswani, Indranil, Mudit, Hansie, and so on and STCL has just a few of them who has represented ST at a higher level, such as Gupta, Rudola, Maitee. So on paper STCT has the talent but they are always short of match practice because they do not believe in practicing hard( it seems..??). The problem with STCL is that they are short of talent but they are not short of either commitment or match practice. The enthusiasm associated with STCL is much greater than STCT. One thing that always impresses me about STCL is that they are very quiet and believe in playing rather than talking all the time. One thing that is missing in both the teams is aggression. I believe that without aggression , one can not beat a potentially better and more skillful team.

ST cricket is declining by each passing day with both the teams loosing regularly and even to oppositions which they used to thrash earlier. I still feel that there should be one team that should represent ST at corporate level and for selecting the players for that team , we need to play rigorously with each other, practice hard and even play friendly matches with other teams. I believe adopting this policy and playing with more commitment, passion and spirit, we can be successful at corporate level.
